: 2014 Honouring the Fallen
On Monday 4th August 2014 the Newmills and District VC Group held an opening ceremony in Newmills Community Hall, commencing a week of celebrations to Honour the Fallen. A series of lectures was on-going throughout the day. The Monday evening event included a display of World War One memorabilia
On Tuesday evening there was a Service of Remembrance at Carland Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Hugh Ross.
On the evening of Thursday 7th August 2014, Cookstown British Legion hosted a VC Variety night.
On Friday night, Robert Butler and Amanda Moreno were the guest speakers at a talk in Coalisland Hall on World War One, with the focus on Robert Morrow V.C. and the four Lynn brothers. Following on from the talk, there was a Clergy 'Bake-Off' entitled 'Not Just Bully Beef!' in Tullaniskin Parish Hall with Rev Anderson, Rev Ross and Canon Porteus taking part.
On Saturday night the VC Dance took place in Tullaniskin Parish Hall. The music was provided by the Alastair Scott Ceilidh Band.
The week's celebrations were brought to an end on Sunday 10th August with a Royal British Legion Drum Head Service at Private Robert Morrow V.C.'s Memorial in Newmills.
