The report details how the battalion at the front raised almost 1,000 francs in a collection for Mrs Morrow
With the objective of minimising a pecuniary loss lately incurred by her, Lieutenant Colonel Findlater, commanding the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, has forwarded to Mrs Margaret Morrow, Sessia, Newmills, the widowed mother of the late Private Morrow V.C., who belonged to that battalion, a cheque for 992 francs (over £35). This sum has been contributed by every officer and man of the battalion now at the front as an expression of practical sympathy, and was forwarded per Mr Delmege Trimble, Armagh. It is in addition to the donations from the regiment to the 'Morrow Memorial Fund'.
