The report notes Mrs Morrow's trip to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 29th November 1916
Among those who had the honour of being received by his Majesty in Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, when the King handed to them as next-of-kin the Victoria Crosses won by their relatives in the war was Mrs Morrow, of Newmills, who received the Cross awarded her son, No. 10531 Private Robert Morrow, Princess Victoria's Royal Irish Fusiliers, for most conspicuous bravery near Messines on 12th April 1915, when he rescued and carried successfully to places of comparative safety several men who had been buried in the debris of trenches wrecked by shell fire. Private Morrow carried out his gallant work on his own initiative and under heavy fire from the enemy.
