A report describes Robert Morrow's award of the Emperor of Russia's Medal
Tyrone VC Hero – Russian Emperor's Decoration
Mrs M J Morrow, Sessia, Newmills, Dungannon, mother of the deceased V.C. hero, Private Robert morrow, 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, has received the medal of St George (3rd class) awarded the dead soldier by the Emperor of Russia. The following letter from Captain H H Hannington, on behalf of the Director of Recruiting, accompanied the decoration:-
'I am directed to forward herewith the medal of St George (3rd class) conferred by his Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Russia on your son, the late No. 10531 Private Robert Morrow, V.C., 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, to be retained as a memorial of the deceased soldiers distinguished service.'
