A Belfast Newsletter report describes the granting of permission of the Newmills Memorial on 9th November 1916
The Late Private Morrow V.C.
The memory of the late Private Robert Morrow V.C., Royal Irish Fusiliers, is to be perpetuated by the erection of an obelisk in the centre of his native village, Newmills, County Tyrone. Permission to erect the monument was granted by the Dungannon Rural District Council at their meeting yesterday, and that body also decided to petition the War Office to take over all the memorials erected to soldiers who have fallen on the field of battle, to ensure their proper upkeep and repair.
